Who can buy a HUD home?  ANYONE!!!!  If you have the cash, or can qualify for a loan (subject to certain restrictions) you may buy a HUD home.  HUD homes are initially offered to owner-occupant purchasers (people who are buying the home as their primary residence).   Following the priority period for owner occupants, unsold properties are available to all buyers, including investors.  You can browse an inventory of homes at   Additional information, such as FAQ's, contract packages, earnest money procedures, pro-approval requirements, Buyer incentives and more can be found at  If you would like to place a bid on a HUD home, you will need to contact a real estate Broker/Agent that is registered with HUD.

NAID Registration - Selling Brokers  In order to place a bid on a HUD property, you must have an active NAID (Name Address Identification Number issued by HUD). Only selling Brokers may obtain a NAID. Real Estate Agents must use the NAID of their Selling Broker to submit bids. Register at .  Click on the link to NAID registration and download application forms SAMS 1111 and SAMS 1111a. Follow the instructions posted and submit your applications to your respective HUD Homeownership Center. When you have completed the application process, you will be issued a NAID.

Once you have obtained a NAID, you can register at and create a user name and password login. If you are a Selling Agent, your principal broker must be registered before you can register. This NAID registration permits you to make an offer on a HUD property and proceed to the sale closing.
